NTHS Community Service Requirements:
All students attending TTUSD schools must accumulate at least 30 hours of documented and approved community service activities prior to high school graduation. No student will receive a diploma without 30 hours of community service.
In addition to completing the cumulative hour requirement - NTHS Pathway's grades are tied to an annual requirement. Each year - students will be required to submit the following amount of hours or they will receive a NP (No Pass) in their Pathways classes.
Yearly Requirements:
9th: 6 hours
10th-12th: 8 hours

How Does It Work?
Step 1: Identify what you would like to do for community service. NTHS will provide and publish opportunities to complete community service given to us by local non-profit groups. Students may also need to reach out to organizations in the area to solicit community service opportunities themselves. A great resource to check is Give Back Tahoe.
Step 2: Get pre-approved. We want to honor your time and energy so we require that activities be approved by your Pathways teacher prior to completion of the community service. Not all activities will count as community service. A few things each year will receive school-wide pre-approval and students will be notified about this.
Step 3: Do your community service. You are ready to go. Complete your approved community service and document your time. You will need an adult who will serve as the supervisor (not a family member) and sign off on your hours.
Step 4: Turn in your hours and keep your files. Once you have completed the hours - please make sure to turn them in (with the entire form completed) to your Pathways teacher. Always make a copy of your hours and keep a file at home in case anything gets lost or misplaced. This is a graduation requirement and unless you can document your hours - you cannot graduate. Even if you say you submitted your hours.

Documenting Your Hours
TTUSD has required forms to document your hours. The forms are available in the front office and also available here for download. The official form we need is the "Community Service Verification Form". The lined activity documentation form is for your records.
