NTHS School CounselingThe mission of the North Tahoe High School counseling department and support team is to create life-long learners and scholars who pursue knowledge and enlightenment through positive relationships, seek continued education and experience, and become active members of their community.

Jeff Ream works with students in grades 11-12 and Jennifer Jango-Cohen works with students in grades 9 - 10. School counselors coordinate a comprehensive program that supports all academic, college, and social/emotional aspects of student growth & support. In addition - NTHS has a Wellness Center staffed by Hilary Stoner who provides additional support for students and works closely with Mr. Ream and Ms. Jango-Cohen. Also, Jordan Holst serves at NTHS's career technician who supports students exploration of post-secondary career and training options with a particular focus on CTE fields. General Appointment Times: Monday - Friday 8am - 3:00pm *Important*The counseling office and services are available for emergency or urgent needs. Please let Omar or other office staff know that you need to see a school counselor immediately. All NTHS students have a SCOIR student account to help coordinate and manage career and college preparation and planning. Students login using Clever and their TTUSD Google accounts. Incoming 8th graders will have a chance to be registered in early fall. New students will need to speak with their school counselor to get your account setup. College Board CEEB Number is 053537 |
School Counseling ServicesProfessional school counselors are trained in both education and counseling, allowing them to function as a facilitator between parents, teachers, and students in matters concerning the student’s goals, abilities and any areas needing improvement. School Counselors are professional educators with a mental health perspective who understand and respond to the challenges presented by today’s diverse student population.
· Individual and small group counseling (short term interventions) · Crisis intervention counseling · Conflict resolution and peer facilitation · Consultation/collaboration · Referrals to outside services (including mental and physical health) · Student Advocacy · Advocate for individual students · Advocate for positive change in the school and in the district Individual Student Planning North Tahoe HS helps students in individual Academic, Career, and Social/Emotional planning by implementing the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for each student. ILPs formally begin in 9th grade and are hosted on Aeries. A second ILP meeting is held in 11th grade and a PSP (Post-Secondary Planning) meeting is held in 12th grade. |
