Self-care  and  Coping

Take care of yourself first

We are able to execute our tasks, help care for others, and sustain our daily routines if we care for yourselves first. Here are some tips and tricks to incorporate self-care into your routine. 

Taking care of yourself is not selfish, it is survival. You do not have to purchase anything to achieve self-care. 

Scheduling self-care in your calendar or setting a daily time for care is helpful. Some of these things can take only several moments! Remember you will be more successful if you take a break from work. 

List of self-care techniques

Exercise
Drink water
Practice mindfulness
Just sit (do NOTHING)
Take a bath
Buy yourself flowers
Craft
Read
Look at the clouds or stars
Put on some music
Light a candle
Sing in the shower
Stretch
Go swimming
Put on a cute outfit
Bake or cook
Watch the sunset


Put on a face mask
Garden
Write down a gratitude
Drink spa water (water with fruit)
Write a card to a friend
Do word search or puzzle
Color or draw
Get outside
Write a compliment to yourself
Watch a funny video
Have an afternoon treat
Look through your pictures
Call a friend
Ask for a hug
Play with clay
Soak your feet in hot water
Take 5 deep breaths


Read a children's book
Take a nap
Read a magazine
Blast music and dance
Put your face in the sun
Journal your thoughts
Hang with your pet
Write down names of your loved ones
Smile at strangers
Give yourself a foot massage
Smell flowers outside
Listen to nature sounds
Skip
Rant or vent to a friend
Put on fuzzy socks
Make your bed
Talk to yourself in the mirror
