About Mr. Ream:

Email: [email protected] After beginning post-secondary education at Cal Poly SLO and studying Aerospace Engineering - I returned to the family pursuit of educating. I am the son of two teachers and the grandson of two more teachers. I felt called into education, but didn't feel led to teach. I want to help students pursue their potential, develop young people into their future selves, and create opportunities for all students - so school counseling became my passion. I began my career at North Tahoe High School in 2012 and have had a blast watching students grow and lives changed. I am married and have 3 boys at home, but I like think I have hundreds of children (my students). Some of my hidden passions and talents include cooking, playing several instruments, being a self-professed Geek and having a love for British Premier League soccer. Professionally - I am active in my state leadership for school counselors and have served on the board of the California Association of School Counselors since 2014. I also have a popular blog which I have run since 2012 called The Counseling Geek. Through it and my experience, I get to travel around the country several times a year to speak at professional conferences and events. Through the blog - I also raise funds and provide scholarships for school counselors around the US to attend high-quality professional development each summer. I have specialist certificates in School Counselor Leadership and College Admissions Counseling, I am a Level 2 Google Certified Educator, speak to school counselors around the country and have been a California School Counselor of the Year Finalist in 2015 and the recipient of the 2018 California School Counselor of the Year Award.
