Individual Learning Plan / Post-Secondary Plan
The Individual Learning Plan (ILP) is a personalized document (and more of a process) that students develop with their school counselor and other supportive adults to chart their progress toward their goals during high school, to ensure they are on the path to graduation, and to determine what resources and tools they need to be prepared for a successful pathway in life after graduation.
The ILP has five general topics: Setting Goals, Identifying Potential Barriers, Identifying Strategies to Reach Goals, Preparing for Success, and 4-Year Course Planning.
The ILP Plan process will look slightly different in each grade level. Typically 9th and 10th grade meetings are comprised of classroom curriculum lessons either through Pathways or delivered by school counselors in other courses and individual meetings with the student only. Junior and seniors typically also get classroom lessons and we meet individually with students but also invite parents/guardians to attend these individual meetings.
These meetings covers high school performance and progress to date, academic and post-secondary goal setting, completing the four-year course of study for the remaining high school years, and starting the conversation about what comes next.
Seniors will meet with their school counselor for their PSP (Post-Secondary Plan) meeting in the early fall. We call them a PSP, but it is a continuation of the ILP process. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to attend, but are not required to.
ILP/PSP Timelines at a Glance:
September-November: Senior PSP Meetings
October - December: 9th Grade ILPs
December - March: 11th Grade ILPs
January - March: 10th Grade ILPs
